Supported AI Assistants
What you Need
- A Zendesk Support account. The MCP Server uses the permissions of the Zendesk user who authorizes it. Use an Admin or regular Agent Zendesk user. Light Agent and Contributor Zendesk roles often fail to authorize or return only part of the data.
- A Swifteq account. This is free. If you already use another Swifteq app, such as Help Center Manager, you can sign in with the same account.
- An AI assistant that supports MCP. Refer to the list of supported AI assistants below.
- Permission to add a custom connector in your AI assistant. This is the most common blocker. Claude requires a paid plan to add custom connectors, ChatGPT requires Developer mode, and on Team and Enterprise plans an administrator can turn off custom connectors for the whole organization.
Note: Some Zendesk search features used by the MCP Server require the Zendesk Suite Growth plan or higher. If searching or exporting tickets fails on a smaller Zendesk plan, contact us.
Supported AI Assistants
| AI assistant | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Web and Desktop | Supported | Requires a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). On Team and Enterprise plans, an administrator may need to allow custom connectors. |
| Claude Code | Supported | The callback port must be set to 8080. |
| ChatGPT (Web) | Supported | Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans. Developer mode must be turned on. |
| Cursor | Works | We need to allow the callback URL that Cursor uses. Contact us with the URL. |
| VS Code and GitHub Copilot | Works | Enter the OAuth Client ID manually. |
| Microsoft Copilot Studio | Works | Use the built-in MCP wizard, not a custom connector. |
| Other MCP clients (for example n8n, LibreChat, Guru or your own internal tools) | Case by case | Works if the client supports MCP with OAuth. We need to allow the client's callback URL. |
| Gemini CLI, Gemini Enterprise and Vertex AI | Not working | Known issue in Gemini's MCP support. |
| Codex desktop | Not supported | Uses a different protocol version. |
| Open WebUI and Amazon Q Developer | Not working | Their sign-in flow is not compatible with the MCP Server today. |
For setup steps, refer to Connecting Claude to the MCP Server, Connecting ChatGPT to the MCP Server and Connecting Other AI Assistants and Custom MCP Clients.
You can connect several AI assistants to the same Swifteq account, for example Claude and GitHub Copilot.
