When Exporting Articles, you are given the option of what type of file you want to export to.
The following shows the options when Export as Word document is selected.
Export as CSV file | This produces a CSV file with each article on a row. It includes the information on the articles. You can select to additionally include the content of the articles. This includes the content of the articles in the CSV file as text. Where more than one article has been selected, the filename is articles.csv. Where one article is exported, the filename of the csv is the title of the article. |
Export as HTML file | This produces an HTML file which holds the articles selected for the export. When opened in a browser, the text is formatted and images are displayed. Representations of any videos are not included. Where more than one article has been selected, the filename is articles.html. Where one article is exported, the filename of the html is the title of the article. |
Export as Word document | This produces a Word document with the articles that were selected for the export. You can select to produce this as Plain Text Content which, when opened in Word, shows only the text of the articles with no formatting. When selected as Formatted Text Content, when opened in Word this shows the text formatted and it includes any links to other articles. Any images are shown as place holders only and representations of any videos are not included. Where more than one article has been selected, the filename is articles.docx. Where one article is exported, the filename of the Word document is the title of the article. |
Export as PDF document | This produces a PDF document which has the text formatted and it includes any links to other articles. The PDF also includes all images and also links to any videos. Where more than one article has been selected, the filename is articles.pdf. Where one article is exported, the filename of the PDF document is the title of the article. |
Exporting Links or Media
When exporting Links or Media, this exports to a CSV file with each link or media on a row.
For links, as well as the Link URL and Link Text, it includes the information such as whether the link is to a draft or private article. The filename of the CSV is links.csv.
For media, the export shows the URL of the media as well as information on the article in which it is included. The name of the CSV file is media.csv.
For example, where a link is referenced in more than one article, or in more than one location within an article, each occurrence of the link is shown as a separate row in the Export CSV file. The Links table shows each unique link in your Help Center and the list of occurrences displayed when you click on the row in the table. So, the number of rows in the Export CSV file may be greater than the number of rows in the Links table.
