In the Media page, Help Center Manager displays and checks the images and videos in all "Published" and "Draft" articles in Zendesk. Any Media in "Archived" articles are not included.

Using the Media Page
Name | For images, the Name column shows the filename of the image that has been inserted and the URL of the image as held in Zendesk. For videos, the Name column shows a description of where the video is from (such as YouTube or Vimeo) and the URL of the video. Click the URL to display the image or video in a new browser tab. |
Alt Text | For images, the Alt Text column shows the filename of the image. For videos, there is no Alt Text. |
Type | Type shows the type of file, for example, image/png, image/gif, image/jpeg, video/youtube, video/vimeo. |
Valid |
The Valid column indicates whether or not the Media is broken. Media that is not Valid displays with the red x icon in the Valid column. Media that is not valid is an image or video that does not display for a reader of the Zendesk Help Center. Refer to Reasons that Images and Video could be Broken in Checking for Broken Media. |
Source Article |
Source Article is the Title of the article in which the image or video has been added. This is shown as a link which you can click on to open that article directly in Zendesk. Where there are translations of the article that hold the same image, this shows with the number of articles, for example, "and 2 more". |
Tasks | Tasks can be associated with Media and Tasks are used to assign and track article-related work to team members. Refer to Using the Tasks Feature. |
Preview | Where possible, the Preview column displays the image for easy identification. The Preview icon displays in red when the Media is not Valid. |
Size | For valid images, this shows the size of the image file. You can sort the media page on the Size column, for example, to identify any images that are large. |
You can search on the Alt Text to find images that are used in more than one article.
Searching for Media
In the Media page, Help Center Manager searches for the filename of the image or video inserted into the article. The filename is held as HTML code within the article. For details on searching, refer to Searching for Articles, Links and Media.

You can apply filters to one or more columns. Refer to Using the Filters in Articles, Links and Media.
Opening the Article in Zendesk that Holds the Image or Video
You can open the article to which the image or video has been added in your Zendesk Help Center directly from Help Center Manager.
- Click the link in the Source Article column.
- The article that holds the images or video opens in Zendesk in a new browser tab.
Displaying Details about the Media in the Media Pane
You can display details about the Media in the Media pane.
- Click anywhere on the row, except the URL in the Name column or the Source Article column.
- The Media pane opens.
The Media pane displays details of the image or video.
- The Media URL shows the internal reference for the Media in the Zendesk Help Center.
- The Article Title, Alt Text, Category and Section of to the article in which the media is held.
- The image or the video itself is displayed so you can check the image, or play the video.
Changing the Alt Text for Images
You can change the Alt Text for images in Help Center Manager. This saves having to edit the HTML in Zendesk. When changing the Alt Text, the change is automatically pushed to Zendesk.
Changing the Alt Text for Images from the Media Page
You can change the Alt Text manually for images from the Media page by clicking the Edit icon next to the Alt Text.
Changing the Alt Text for Images from the Media Pane - Generated by AI
You can generate the Alt Text with AI from the Media pane. This is generated using ChatGPT.
- Click the item to display the Media pane.
- Click Change Alt Text and select Generate with AI.
The Alt Text is generated, is pushed to Zendesk and displays in the Media pane and Media page.
Changing the Alt Text for Images from the Media Pane - Edit Manually
- From the Media pane, click Change Alt Text and select Edit manually.
Or
Click the Edit icon next to the Alt Text in the Media pane.
The Edit Media Text pop-up displays.
- Enter the new text.
- Click Save and Push to Zendesk.
The Alt Text is pushed to Zendesk and displays in the Media pane and Media page.
